- Charges an entry fee per vehicle, covered by the America the Beautiful pass. Check nps.gov for current rates. One pass covers both parks. Since 2026, non-US residents also pay an extra per-person fee here.
- Time needed
- Two days for Giant Forest, Grant Grove and Kings Canyon.
- Best time
- Late May to October. The road to Cedar Grove is open only from about late spring to autumn.
- Getting there
- Three Rivers is about 10 minutes from the Ash Mountain entrance. Fresno Yosemite International Airport is about 1.5 hours by car.

Do I need a reservation for Sequoia National Park?
No entry reservation is needed. Crystal Cave tours and lodges should be booked ahead.
Can I see Sequoia and Kings Canyon in one day?
You can see General Sherman and General Grant in one long day. Kings Canyon's Cedar Grove needs more time.
Where should I stay?
Wuksachi Lodge and John Muir Lodge are inside the parks. Three Rivers and Visalia have more choice.
