- Tickets
- The park charges an entry fee per vehicle, covered by the America the Beautiful pass. Check nps.gov for current rates. Non-US residents pay an extra per-person fee here. From late May to mid-October a timed-entry reservation from Recreation.gov is also needed.
- Time needed
- 2 to 3 days for Trail Ridge Road, Bear Lake and a couple of hikes.
- Best time
- June to September, when Trail Ridge Road is open. Late September is prime time for fall color and elk.
- Getting there
- Estes Park is at the east entrance. Denver International Airport is about 1 hour 45 minutes away by car.

Do I need a timed-entry reservation for Rocky Mountain National Park?
Yes, from late May to mid-October. Bear Lake Road needs a 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. permit and the rest of the park needs one from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
