Is it better to stay in Ollantaytambo before Machu Picchu?
Many travelers do, since trains to Aguas Calientes leave from here and the town is lower than Cusco. It also makes an early train easier.
How steep is the climb at the Ollantaytambo ruins?
The main terraces involve a few hundred steep stone steps to the temple area. Go at your own pace and bring water.
