George Washington Birthplace National Monument

This monument protects the land on the Potomac River where George Washington was born in 1732 and where his family lived for generations. You can see the Memorial House built in the 1930s, the outline of the original birth house, a colonial-style farm with animals, and the family burial ground. Bring a picnic, as the park has a riverside picnic area and a small beach.
