You can visit the visitor center and nearby trails on your own, but the quarries themselves are only open on ranger-led tours. Call the monument to reserve a spot.
How hard is the Alibates quarry tour?
It is about 2 miles with a steep 170-foot climb and takes around 2 hours. Wear sturdy shoes and long pants, and bring water.
Can I take a piece of Alibates flint?
No. Collecting flint or any artifacts is illegal on federal land, so leave every stone where you find it.
