How do I get from Lisbon to Sintra and Cascais?

Trains to Sintra leave from Rossio station and trains to Cascais from Cais do Sodré. Each ride takes about 40 minutes.

Should I book Pena Palace ahead?

Yes. Tickets are timed, and the palace is Sintra's busiest sight. Take the first slot of the day and see the other palaces afterwards.

Can you swim on this coast?

The Atlantic here is cool all year. Cascais's town beaches are calm; Guincho is windy with strong currents and better for watching surfers and kitesurfers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

Spring and early fall are warm without the peak-summer crowds. July and August are hot and busy, especially on the beaches.
