Is one week enough for Porto?
One week covers the city plus day trips to the Douro Valley, Braga and Guimarães. Book train tickets to Pinhão and Braga the day before to secure seats.
Do I need to book port wine cellars in advance?
Reserve tours online at least two days ahead for popular lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia. Expect 12 to 25 euros per person including tastings.
How do I reach the Douro Valley from Porto?
Take the regional train from São Bento to Pinhão, about two and a half hours each way along the river. Check times and fares on the Comboios de Portugal app, or join a day tour from Porto.
Do I need tickets for Livraria Lello?
Yes. Entry needs a timed ticket bought online, which costs around 8 euros and can be put toward a book. Morning slots are the least crowded.
