Is 5 days enough for Porto?
Five days covers the historic center, port cellars and a Douro Valley day trip. Walk between Ribeira and Baixa and use the metro for Serralves and Foz to stay on schedule.
Do I need to book port wine cellars ahead?
Book port wine cellars two weeks ahead in summer. Most tours in Vila Nova de Gaia cost 12 to 20 euros and include tastings.
How do I get to the Douro Valley from Porto?
Take the regional train from São Bento to Pinhão, about two and a half hours each way along the river. Check times and fares on the Comboios de Portugal app, or join a day tour from Porto.
Do I need tickets for Livraria Lello in advance?
Yes. Entry needs a timed ticket bought online, which costs around 8 euros and can be put toward a book. Morning slots are the least crowded.
