Kōdai-ji

A Zen temple founded by the widow of Toyotomi Hideyoshi in his memory. It has fine gardens, lacquered interiors and a small bamboo grove, and sits between Kiyomizu-dera and Gion. Its seasonal evening illuminations are among the most atmospheric in the Higashiyama area.

Does Kōdai-ji have a bamboo grove?

Yes, a small one within the grounds. It is much less crowded than Arashiyama's.

Is Kōdai-ji open at night?

During spring, summer and autumn special periods it stays open into the evening with lit-up gardens.
