- The park charges an entry fee per vehicle, covered by the America the Beautiful pass. Check nps.gov for current rates. Non-US residents 16 and over pay an extra per-person fee unless they hold the nonresident annual pass. No entry reservation is needed.

- A full day at the South Rim; two or three days to add a hike below the rim.
- Best time
- Spring and fall for mild weather and fewer crowds. The North Rim is only open mid-May to mid-October.
- Getting there
- Grand Canyon Village is at the South Rim; Flagstaff is about 1 hour 30 minutes away. Nearest major airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor, about 3 hours 30 minutes' drive; Las Vegas is about 4 hours 30 minutes.

Should I visit the South Rim or North Rim?
The South Rim is open all year and has far more services, so it is best for most visitors. The North Rim reopened in 2026 with limited services and no in-park lodging.
What is the best hike at the Grand Canyon?
The South Kaibab Trail to Ooh Aah Point or Cedar Ridge, or the Bright Angel Trail to the first rest house, give great views on a day hike. Phantom Ranch and the river bridges are closed in 2026, so check nps.gov before planning an inner-canyon trip.
Where should I stay to visit the Grand Canyon?
Lodges in Grand Canyon Village book up to a year ahead. Tusayan, just outside the South Rim gate, and Williams or Flagstaff are good alternatives.
