Do you need a guide at Canyon de Chelly?
Yes, to go into the canyon, except on the White House Trail. Tours on foot, by vehicle or on horseback are offered by authorized Navajo guides.
Can you hike to White House Ruin without a guide?
Usually yes, it is the one trail open without a guide. It can close for weather or other reasons, so check nps.gov before you go.
