About Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre is a chain of five villages along a rugged stretch of the Ligurian coast: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Brightly painted houses cluster above small harbors, and terraced vineyards climb the hillsides behind them. A regional train and seasonal ferries link the villages, and cars are largely kept out.
Trips here suit walkers and those drawn to coastal scenery. Hiking trails connect the villages through vineyards and olive groves. Short visits often come as day trips from La Spezia, while longer stays allow full hikes and quieter mornings.

Does Monterosso have a sandy beach?
Yes. It has the biggest beach in the Cinque Terre, with both free sections and paid beach clubs.
Is there a beach in Vernazza?
Just a small pebbly one by the harbour.
How do you get up to Corniglia from the station?
Walk the Lardarina stairway, which takes about 15 minutes, or ride the small shuttle bus.
Where is the famous Manarola viewpoint?
On the path north of the harbour, past the small playground at Punta Bonfiglio.
Is Riomaggiore worth visiting?
Yes. It is one of the most photogenic villages and the closest to La Spezia.
Do you need to book the Via dell'Amore?
Yes. Entry is by timed slot of about 200 people every 30 minutes, booked with a Cinque Terre Card.
